Atlanta Transit System records, 1946-1969.

The collection consists of records of the Atlanta Transit System from 1946-1969. Includes labor relations files of companies that operated Atlanta's public transit system which contain transcripts and notes of company-union conferences, statements of union requests, and company proposals. Materials pertain to negotiations between the Amalgamated Association of Street, Electric Railway and Motor Coach Employees of America, Local 732, its successor the Alagamated Transit Union, Local 732, and the Georgia Power Company (1946-1950) then later the Atlanta Transit System (1950-1969). Negotiation sessions focused on wages, retirement and insurance benefits, safety grievances, and the 1949 strike. Additional records include contract and arbitration materials from other transit systems including the American Transit Association.
